Gel(oh) Time

There is something about gels and therefore jelly that feels like summer. Whether it be jelly sandals, puffy jelly bags or recently, jelly nails. Something about gelatinous textures scream warm weather to me. Go figure. So as I was saying…gels feel like warm weather to me and because of how overheated these days (and nights) have been. I’ve been reaching for gel moisturizers more often.

Gel creams/water creams/water gel creams have been a mainstay in Korean Skincare for a while now and I think more than ever, this year they will become a mainstay in my routine. Gel creams or water creams are a hydrating and moisturizing product with the texture of, guess what, jello! It’s not thick or oily, it’s kinda jiggly and it may be a bit slippery. While they may not have the typical creamy feel of a heavy moisturizer, gel creams still pack a hydrating punch as they are filled with humectants which help to retain water, we’re talking glycerin, hyaluronic acid and all that good stuff.

So even though we can’t go farther than our front gates, I know that I, for one , am still taking care of my skin and given the already elevated temperatures we’re experiencing, gel creams are going to be my go to. I started going through my skincare samples and I realized that I had more than a handful of gel cream to test out. Naturally there are still a few that are on my “to buy and to try list” but I think these will keep me occupied for now.
