Clear Skin Settings

I wrote a post a few weeks ago (self-isolation may be giving me a false sense of time) about my dry skin struggles and I listed a few of the products I use to help with the hydration situation.

I realize however that I didn’t share the rest of the products I use in my skincare routine. I’ve mentioned it before but I loosely follow the Korean 10 Step Routine with a few modifications. I’ve been doing so for over a year and I definitely think it has made a difference.

If you have no idea what the Korean 10 Step Routine…baby what is you doing? You can get a quick run down here.

Have you watched the video? You know the 10 steps now? Okay…let’s get into it.

Cleansing!

I haven’t been double cleansing as much recently because I am barely leaving the house and therefore exposed to a lot less dirt and grime but on a regular day I do try to double cleanse but especially on days where I have worn makeup, worked out or just been outside and got really sweaty.

This is where the magic (and the hydration) happens. Products are applied in the following order :-

  • Rose Water Toner (and when I am feeling extra, I spray it on several times throughout the routine).

  • Snail Mucin Essence ; and last but certainly not least

  • Hyaluronic Acid Serum.

A few years ago, my best friend bought me some snail mucin samples from Korea. I went and googled snail mucin and I was like ewwww, until I tried the actual products. Snail slime is definitely worth it.

Aloe Vera is bae right here, I use it before my day moisturizer, night cream or sunscreen. It all depends on what’s going on. I alternate between these two sunscreens but I do prefer the Healthy Defense. I like the Hydro Boost line but for some reason the sunscreen just gets a little too ghostly for me unless I rub it in…a lot. I’m still searching for some other sunscreens options but till then..these do the trick.

At night, I use a night cream, a sleeping mask (when I’m feeling really dry or really sad) or I may just do only aloe vera if my skin is acting up. I usually add a few drop of an oil to seal in all the goodness. Marula and Rosehip are at the top of my list.

I’m a big fan of skincare and I am subscribed to Ipsy so I do get my fair share of samples which are fun to try out. Despite the routine I still experiment especially with serums and face masks. Skincare is definitely not a one product fit all situation so my advice is to just keep trying till you find what works for your skin.

Also, change your pillowcases often and clean your phone.

P.S. If you are interested in trying out Ipsy , feel free to use my referral link.

What is your skincare routine looking like? Do any of these products make an appearance?

Love & Light,

UltraRush
