In the beginning it was all black and white.

I was initially going to title this post “Mi nah fi wear black fi bad…” but then I thought..better not. Big up to Maureen O’hara for the quote.

I’ve always been a fan of black clothing , perhaps remnants of my punk phase? Black has always been easy to wear and works for each and every occasion I’ve found myself having to participate in.  A self described “responsible” shopper I was always drawn to black because I know I would be able to wear it for extended periods of time and it would make mixing and matching easy.

I’ve gone through a lot of other fashion phases ,  but I think am falling back to black. I took a peek into my closet a few weeks ago and it hit me how much black clothing I have. I love the black and white combination on any pattern or print. It’s simple and always classic but can also be really bold if paired properly.

If I had to define a “power outfit , it would involve black and white , gold accessories and pops of colour. I just feel really put together in my black and white. It’s no wonder why my style icon Ms. Monae sticks to this colour palette. It never fails.
