Music To My Ears
I must admit, I think I may have a teensy bit of an obsessive personality. When I like something, I tend to get really engrossed in it. When it comes to music, when I find an artist, album, song I like, I listen to it day in, day out, for days, weeks and sometimes months on end.
That being said, I’m usually a very late adopter when it comes to new music. My favourite albums are often at least two years old, but what is a few years when it comes to good music?
In recent years, YouTube has been the plug for my new music obsessions. Usually after selecting one of my favorite songs, YouTube leads me down the rabbit hole of awesome music. YouTube has come to know me so well and as such, most of the recommendations are black women, that are a little “odd/strange/off the beaten bath/”. I like what I like.
In the last couple weeks, I’ve been obsessed with Mereba and Lila Ike. I’ve been listening to them both every day and they just keep getting better. If you haven’t listened to either of them before, please do. Like please….they are both amazing and just recently released new EPs.
Mereba’s visual EP, The Jungle is the Only Way Out is a beautiful compilation that is to say the least, aesthetically pleasing.
Lila’s EP, The Experience is likewise beautiful and the accompanying visuals have surely been something special.

I like Teyana for more reasons than one. *cough cough* That’s all I will say.

Their voices separately are beautiful. Together? Magical.
