2021…like for real?
So…2021 is really here. I must admit that I am tip toeing very cautiously into the year but as always I couldn’t resist the drama of starting a new year with some resolutions.
My resolutions are pretty much the same as they have been for several years now so perhaps they are life plans at this point.
I am however seeking to adjust my approach to achieving these goals. Towards the tail end of last year I became a bit more interested and focused on my habits. Habits are after all the corner stone of our strategy towards achievement. Some of our habits are now so ingrained that we don’t think about them anymore ( brushing our teeth, taking a shower) while others still take some effort to maintain (taking our vitamins, exercising, eating the recommended servings of fruits and vegetables). Last year I spent a lot of time building out my morning routine , my night time routine, my skincare routine as well as my reading schedule. What I however neglected for the better part of 2020 was my hair.
I have talked about my hair journey several times and I am not ashamed to admit that I am a lazy natural but for the last two years I have been wanting on and off to grow my hair out to have a bit more versatility with my styles. I started 2020 with that in mind however at the first sign of adversity (a.k.a. first two months of quarantine) I did my hundredth big chop. I simply wasn’t in a good head space for growth (pun intended).
But towards the end of the year and close to my birthday I was reminded of my desire for more hair versatility. I ventured to the Asherlee Naturals salon and the lovely ladies there gave me curl definition I had previously only dreamed about. 10/10 would recommend. The whole experience while awesome made me wanted to do more with my hair again.
So I decided to once again recommit to growing longer and stronger hair. To help with that, I have added the Follicle Enhancer from Edge Naturale to the my hair care regimen. The lovely people at Edge Naturale have gifted me another jar for which I am grateful.
Though the product is mainly aimed at regrowing edges and I have some of the most unruly edges ever and I do shave around my hairline often because I have a tapered mohawk situation going on and as such I am using the product as an all over growth enhancer given how short my hair still is. I have been consistently using it nightly for a couple weeks now and will start incorporating it in my morning routine as well.
With this product a little goes a long way, so I take a bit rub it on my finger tips, give myself a little scalp massage before brushing it in and putting on my bonnet. I like the consistency of the product, the smell (pepperminty) and because I don’t need a lot, I should be well stocked for the next couple months. I’m definitely looking forward to the hair growth this time.
Apart from being black women owned which is reason enough to support…you ever run across companies that write great emails? Edge Naturale is one of them. Their check ins are always timely and feel like an old friend making sure you’re doing okay. They’ve recently introduced hair vitamins to the lineup so if hair growth is on your list for this year…come through!
So do you have any 2021 hair goals or is your routine down pat? What habits are you working on for this year? I’d love to know!
Love and Light,
