The Thing About Skin…continued

I try to keep my skincare routine simple (chuckles in Korean 10 step routine). I really do…but I also like to experiment and play around with my products. I had ambitions of becoming a cosmetic chemist as a teenager so with this I get to live out a part of the fantasy.

When I do scale down however there are a few products that are always in my routine:

1) A cleansing balm or oil…in my opinion, these are the best ways to get rid of makeup, it literally melts right off your face. I am partial to banila.co but elf and versed make great affordable ones.

2) a gentle cleanser. I go with Cerave Hydrating Cleanser and I have recently switched to the cream to foam formula. Love it…I have been using it for a few years now and it does the job and doesn’t leave my skin too dry.

3) hyalauronic acid. I use the very affordable option from the ordinary and it’s a must have for my dry skin, it helps to pull and retain moisture and keeps my skin from not looking parched.

4) sunscreen. Growing up sunscreen was reserved for beach days but as I learned more about my acne and ezcema I realized that sunscreen had to be an everyday thing. I have tried a few and I am always open to trying more but so far I have been rocking with Black Girl Sunscreen and Paula’s Choice Liquid. They leave no white cast and they blend in easily. Win!

5) clay based face masks. I love these for spot treating pimples and breakouts…they really do help the pimple come to the fore so it can be removed. They can be a bit drying so I always double up on moisturizers after use.

6) moisturizer. I thought this would be a given after I spoke so much on my dry skin struggles but yes a good moisturizer is a must have. I switch mine out very often but I like using lighter formulas that can be layered.

honourable mention…pimple patches! I’ve been using them a lot this year and they really work…I pop them on at night usually and the pimple looks soothed and definitely less noticeable by morning. They come in different sizes and formulations and they are definitely worth having around.

That’s all I got for skin care essentials but I usually do have a few other products in rotation especially because my skin can be a bit temperamental but these are what I always use even when my skin is too irritated for anything else.

Love and light,

Ultra
